Email Photos for Beginners

You can email digital photos from your computer to share them with friends and family who also have an email account. The photo image must be a digital picture file that is currently stored on your computer's hard drive. If you have transferred the photo from a digital camera or scanned it with a scanner, you may also need to shrink the image's size before you mail. Finally, to send a photo, you must also know the email address of the person to whom you want to send it.

Launch your email client program, such as Thunderbird, Outlook or Outlook Express. If you use a Web mail account, launch your Internet browser and log into your email account online.

Create a new email. This may be different depending on the client or Web mail you use, but most allow you to click a "New," "Write" or "New Mail" button.

Type the email address of the person to whom you want to send your photo in the "To:" text box.

Type a subject for your email and a message in the proper text boxes.
