Find eMail Server Addresses

eMail server addresses serve the purpose of connecting to a email server, in order to download email messages Usually a email server address is mail.domain.com or smpt.domain.com. However, this is not the case for every address The command prompt can help find a mail server address.

Open command prompt by clicking "Start," "All Programs," "Accessories" then "Command Prompt."

Type "nslookup" in the command prompt and press "Enter."

Type "set type=mx" and press "Enter."

Type the name of the domain, and press "Enter" to show the mail server address. The domain name is generally the same as that of your email program; examples of domains are gmail.com, hotmail.com and yahoo.com.
