Find Incoming eMail From POP3 Server

A POP3 server is an email server often used by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and web-based mail services. In order to read incoming mail from a POP3 server, you must configure a mail client program with the mail server settings. The account and email server settings are usually available from the ISP or web-based mail service website.

Obtain an email client program such as Thunderbird, Outlook or Outlook Express. The Outlook program is installed with Microsoft Office. Thunderbird and Outlook Express are free to download online.

Launch the email client software. The first time you use the software, it will automatically launch a new email setup wizard.

Choose to set up a new POP3 email account and follow the on-screen instructions as the wizard walks you through the setup.

Type your name and your email address in the text boxes when prompted.

Type your email account username and password in the proper text boxes.

Type the POP3 server information in the "Incoming Mail Server" text box and the SMTP server information in the "Outgoing Mail Server" text box.

Save the settings to the mail client to complete the setup.

Click the "Send/Receive" button to launch the client. If it detects mail on your POP3 email server, it will remove the messages from the server and place them into your client "Inbox" for you to read.
