Make Your Free email Signature

You may pay for your email system, but your email signature shouldn't cost a dime. Email signatures are now a standard part of an email package. An email signature is any message, picture or link that is appended at the end of every email message you send. Once limited to a standard font and perhaps your name and telephone number, email signatures can now, for example, include your favorite quote in a fancy italic font, followed by your name and telephone number in an easily read bold font.

Open your email program. Go to the "Settings" option. The means to perform these steps depends upon the specific email program you use. For the Gmail system, click on the little gearwheel beside your email address, on the far right-hand side of the page.

Locate the "Signature" setting. The default setting for this option is "OFF" or "No Signature" until you change the option to add a signature. Click the option to "ON." For the Gmail system, scroll down to the middle of the options page to find the Signature area and click the radio option to "ON" or click the radio button next to the email address for which you are establishing a signature.

Type in the designated field whatever you want to be your signature. In the Gmail system, there is a box resembling a short word processing page where you can chose a font, a font size, color, spacing or a web link to create your signature.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the button to the left of "Save Changes." You will be returned to the main email screen.

Send yourself a test email to check your email signature for typos and determine that it meets your needs.
