Tips on How to Send Large Email

You may encounter problems if you attempt to send an email that contains a large file. Sometimes the email program will stop responding and crash if the file is too large. Many email clients have a limit to the size of e-mails or files you can send, often 20 MB or smaller. You have some alternative methods to get your e-mail to your desired recipient.

Right-click on the file you want to send. Click "send to compressed folder". Windows will attempt to press the file together into a smaller size so you can send to your recipient.

Open your email program and locate the compressed folder to attach. A compressed folder usually goes directly to your desktop when you select the option to compress a file. Otherwise it is in the same location as the original file.

Type your message and send it with the attachment.

Third-party e-mail senders
Send your email through an account that specializes in sending files up to 2 GB or more. Sites like Yousendit or Dropsend are free services that allow you to upload large files to send. Type in your email address when you have chosen your preferred third-party file-sending website.

Upload the large email or file you want to send to the recipient. You will need to know where the file is stored so you can locate it when uploading.

Insert the email address of the recipient, type your message and click "Send". Expect to wait several minutes or longer for the file to send, depending on your Internet connection speed and the size of the file you are sending.
