Things to Know About Yahoo Advertisement Cookies

According to common online advertising wisdom, you and other Internet users are more likely to click on ads that are on subjects that you care about. Presumably, you are then more likely to tolerate them. However, some users simply consider ads to be a nuisance. You can opt-out of these interest-based ads at any time using a special Yahoo! website. Once you opt-out, Yahoo! will stop placing the cookies in your Web browser that makes interest-based ads possible.

Navigate to mail.yahoo.com and log in to your Yahoo! account.

Open a new tab in your browser, enter "info.yahoo.com/privacy/us/yahoo/opt_out/targeting/" into the address bar and press "Enter."

Click the gold "Opt Out" button located beneath the "Interest-based ads" header.

Tips & Warnings

Presumably you are currently allowing Yahoo! to store cookies on your computer. However, it is worth noting that ito opt out on a given computer, that computer must currently be allowing cookies to be saved. Once you click "Opt-out," Yahoo! will store a cookie on your computer telling its servers to not store any others.
There may be add-ons available for your Web browser that can block any additional cookies that you may receive.
Yahoo! may still present you with ads from time to time even after you opt-out. It does not consider these ads "interest-based" and thus does not offer an "opt-out" option.
