Close Yahoo eMail Addresses Permanently

Yahoo provides free accounts that offer email services, instant messaging and chat room access. Yahoo Mail addresses do not have limits on storage capacity and feature built-in security measures to ensure your email account remains secure, according to the Yahoo Mail website. If you no longer use your Yahoo! account or do not want to keep the account open, you can permanently delete the account through the Yahoo! site.

Navigate in your Web browser to the Yahoo! account termination page.

Enter your Yahoo! username and password to log in to your account.

Enter the CAPTCHA code at the bottom of the page. The CAPTCHA code is case-sensitive and includes a set of wavy or otherwise distored numbers and letters. (CAPTCHA, which stands for Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart, is a program used to ensure that users are not bots or programs, which are unable to "read" the distorted text.)

Click on the "Terminate this Account" button. You will be redirected to a confirmation page that indicates your account is scheduled to be deleted. While Yahoo may take up to 90 days to officially delete your account, you will no longer have access to your Yahoo! email.
