How to Build Remote Control Plane

Building your own remote control plane is a great activity to occupy your time. There are hundreds of resources available for people who are interested in building an RC plane, such as websites, clubs, organizations, hobby shops and magazines. Putting together this plane is an excellent way to spend time with your kids, too, as they will enjoy creating and flying their own RC plane. Follow theses helpful tips.

Decide whether to draw up your own plane design or to purchase a kit. If you are a beginner, it is probably a good idea to just purchase a kit to build your plane.

Clear out unnecessary junk from your garage. You will need the space in the garage to work on your plane as well as for storage purposes. Putting your plane in a garage will keep it from being damaged by weather and harsh temperatures. You will also need a workbench where you have easy access to your tools.

Collect the tools you will be using to put together your plane. You will need some basic tools that you probably already have around the house, like a screwdriver, sandpaper, pliers, glue and tools for stripping wire.

Separate the parts that came with your model into categories and store them. This prevents you from misplacing important pieces, as well as keeping them safe from the elements.

Follow the step-by-step instructions that came with your model kit. Most kits come with a very detailed set of instructions with diagrams that help you to put together the plane and to wire all the electronics for the plane as you build it.

Make sure if your plane is wood that you sand down any loose or protruding pieces with some sandpaper. Sand the pieces as you are building, because if you don't, it will be difficult to do so after the plane is fully assembled.

Apply finish and paint your remote controlled plane. There is no wrong or right way to paint your model plane. Simply go with colors you like and be creative in your design. This gives your plane a unique touch that will make it different from other planes.

Take your plane out for a test flight. It is recommended that you take your plane to a public park with lots of room and make sure it works properly. If everything is working you can just keep flying and enjoying your new remote controlled plane.
