Instructions for Uniden BC350A Operating

The Uniden BC350A Bearcat radio scans frequencies on several different bands to access and monitor emergency, police and weather channels in your local area. Once you obtain the BC350A, you might have questions about how to use it. You'll want to have your radio tuned and programmed perfectly before turning it on and listening to it for important messages.

Plug the power cord into the "DC 13.8V" jack (located on the back of the BC350A), and plug the other end into an AC strip or wall outlet. Insert the external antenna cable into the "Antenna" terminal (located on back of the BC350A), and fully extend the antenna by grabbing the top and pulling up.

Twist the "Squelch" knob (located) completely clockwise until it ceases to turn. Twist the "Volume" knob (located) clockwise to turn the scanner on. Turn the volume to a comfortable listening level until noise is heard. Turn the "Squelch" knob counterclockwise slowly until the noise ceases. If the squelch is too high (turned too far clockwise) you will hear multiple signals, sometimes too many to decipher. If the squelch is too low (turned too far counterclockwise), you won't pick up any signals.

Push "Search" (located below the display) and then push the "Band" button (located below the display) to choose a band for scanning. Push the "Program" button (located to the right of the "Band" button) to begin programming channels. When you arrive at a frequency you wish to program, push the "Hold" button (located in the upper-left corner of the front panel), then push "Prog." The letters "CH" will appear and blink beside the frequency. Push "Police." The screen will switch repeatedly between the frequency and the channel number to which it can be programmed. Push "Prog" to save the frequency to the channel number, and push "Band" to exit.

Push "Private" (located on the left side of the front panel) to start scanning and access saved channels. You can save up to 20 channels under the "Private" collection. Push "Hold" to stop scanning. Push the up or down button (located to the left of the display) to cycle through all 20 saved channels.

Push the "WX" button (located in the bottom-left corner of the front panel) to begin scanning for weather channels. Seven preprogrammed NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) channels will be searched for your local area weather. Push "Search" to exit weather-scanning mode.
