Importance of Data Driven Decision Making In School Counseling (DDDM)

The role of data driven decision making is vital in every school's counselling program to improve the school's system of education. The important reference of study in the school's counselling program includes the employment of methods that help school counselors in acquiring data for counseling programs. Data driven decision making is involved in gathering of data and information to help in assessing, planning, and implementing education strategies concerning the students' need for effective instructional materials, and avail of healthy classroom and school environment. The District's level of participation in the procedure is important because any intervention or program identified based on the data collected from the study will be utilized to produce optimum results based on the desired learning expectations and outcomes of students.

Schools must understand that the individual assessment of student's level of performance is the core in making administrative programs and policies for development. It would serve as bases in the assessment, adoption, and revisions for a more improved instruction methodology. On one hand, it is the responsibility of educators to determine the accuracy of the data collected. They should provide correct levels of assessments that are valid and reflective of the true education environment. They should help in determining the correct level of interpretation and adopt applicable interventions for students, the classroom up to the district level. This refers to the cycle of inquiry and data gathering and assessment as well as the implementation of instructional programs and interventions from decision-making bodies of an institution.

To make data driven decision making an effective tool for improved learning strategies, teachers, and school administrators will have to be proactive and conversant on the relevance and use of available data. This is the responsibility of the district or school to encourage and assist educators in increasing their level of participation and to validate existing student assessment data through the adoption of actual instructional learning practices. The actual intervention of educators to determine the level of students' awareness and participation must be made part of the school's program and practices. Educators' has direct interaction and involvement with students, which provide for the necessary links to determine whether the data collected are sufficient and necessary. The introduction of new education policies based on this method will improve student's level of participation and elevate the schools performance level of expectations.
