Wall Missing on Facebook

Every Facebook user has the opportunity to have a Wall on his profile where he can post a status update, photos, and receive comments from Facebook friends. The Wall is a place to have short conversations, wish a friend congratulations, or ask how a friend is doing. Facebook users also have the option to remove the Wall from their profile for privacy purposes.

Enable Facebook Wall

Sign in to your Facebook account. Click "Account" in the top right corner of the home screen and select "Privacy Preferences." Under the "Sharing on Facebook" section click "Customize settings." Under the "Things Others Share" section click the box next to "Enable" located to the right of "Friends can post on my Wall." To remove the Facebook Wall uncheck the box next to "Enable."

Control who Views Your Posts

You can prevent other people from posting on your Wall and you can control who can view what you post on your own Wall. Sign in to your Facebook account. Click "Account" in the top right corner of the home screen and select "Privacy Preferences." Under the "Sharing on Facebook" section click "Customize settings." Under the "Things I share" section click on the drop down menu to the right of "Posts by me." Click "Customize" to select specific people who you do not want to view your posts. You can also choose other options, including "Friends Only" or "Friends of Friends."

Purpose of Controlling Your Wall
A Facebook Wall is a public place where all your friends can view your status updates and short conversations with your friends. Sometimes your friends may post a comment on your Wall that includes personal information that you do not want anyone else to read. Disabling your wall is a way to prevent people from posting private information on your Wall.

Other Ways to Communicate on Facebook
Even if you disable your Facebook Wall you still have two different ways to communicate with your friends over Facebook in a private setting. Sending a private message is like sending an email. Your friends can send you a message by clicking "Message" on your profile. Another way to communicate is through Facebook Chat, which is an instant message program. Your friends can see if you are online in the Chat list in the bottom right corner of any Facebook screen. If you message a friend or a friend messages you, you can have an instant message conversation in private.
