When you've ended a relationship, such as an engagement, the last thing you want to see is reminders of that engagement everywhere you turn. For example, seeing your status as "Engaged" on Facebook may only serve as a painful reminder of your past relationship. You can change your relationship status to one of a few options to represent your single status. Unlike getting engaged, which required both parties to commit to the status before being displayed, you can change your status to single and have it display immediately.
Click the "Update Info" button at the top of your Facebook Timeline.
Click the "Edit" button in the Relationship section.
Select a new relationship option in the "Relationship Status" drop-down menu above your engaged partner. Selecting options such as "Single," "Separated" or "-" will nullify the engagement status on Facebook.
Click the "Save" button to save your changes and change your Facebook relationship status to the chosen option.
