Facebook is among the world's most popular websites and is a favored online haven for communicating with friends, family and loved ones. Facebook's built-in chat function allows you to send real-time instant messages to Facebook friends who are online at the same time as you. Facebook chat's "Options" menu allows you to change application settings. You can use the menu to specify whether you want Facebook chat to appear in a pop up window or whether you'd like the application to be pinned to your main Facebook browser window.
Navigate to the Facebook.com website and click the "Chat" tab in the bottom right-corner of the screen.
Click the "Options" tab at the top of the friends list tab.
Click "Pop out Chat" in the menu. Your chat windows and friends list will open in a new browser window.
Click the "Options" tab in the upper left of the Facebook chat pop out window.
Click "Pop in Chat" in the menu. Your friends list and active chat windows will be re-pinned to the bottom-right of your main Facebook browser window.
