It is a good security practice to use a different password for each online account that you create. However, this can occasionally result in a forgotten password if you have not used an account in a while. If you have returned to Facebook and found that you no longer remember your log-in information, Facebook's password recovery system can walk you through the process of getting reconnected.
Navigate in your Web browser to Facebook.com, and click the "Forgot your Password?" link in the upper-right corner of the page.
Type your email address in the field at the top of the page.
Click the "Search" button at the bottom of the page. A security check appears so Facebook can confirm that you are a human; type the text shown in the image on the screen, and then click "Submit." Facebook performs a search and returns a page displaying your name and picture.
Click "This Is My Account."
Click "Reset Password." Facebook sends a message to your account's registered email address. Check that address for a message with the title "You Requested a New Facebook Password."
Open the message. Highlight and copy the password reset code contained in the message text by typing "Ctrl" and "C," and then return to the Facebook password reset page. Paste the reset code into the "Password Reset Code" field by typing "Ctrl" and "V."
Click "Submit Code."
Type the password that you would like to use, and then click "Change Password" to proceed to the main page for your Facebook account.
