Facebook groups are a great way to stay in contact with people in an organization or with similar interests, but there may be a time when you want to hide the names of the people who are in a specific group. You can hide group membership on Facebook, but it also hides any information about the group including its name and any posts from members. You have to add people to the group rather than hope people find the group and join on their own. If a group is already created, only the admin of the group can change the privacy settings to hide the group membership.
New Group
Sign into your Facebook account.
Click "Create Group" on the left side of your home page.
Enter your group name and the members you want in your group in the "Create Group" dialogue box.
Click the drop-down arrow for the options next to "Privacy" and select "Secret." This allows only members who are in the group to see who is in it and what group members post.
Click "Create."
Already Created Group
Sign onto your Facebook account.
Select the group for which you want to hide membership from the list of your groups on the left side of your home page. If the group is not displayed, type its name in the Search bar at the top of the Facebook page and select it from the drop-down menu. You must be the admin of the group to make changes after a group is created.
Click "Edit Group" at the right column of your group page.
Click the drop-down arrow next to "Privacy" and select "Secret." A notification is sent to all members of the group to inform them of the change in privacy setting. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the window.
