Tips to View Facebook Messages

If you're a Facebook novice and getting to grips with the social networking site for the first time, you might not realize that Facebook includes a useful messaging service. The "Messages" feature allows Facebook users to send direct messages to each other. This is useful if you want to communicate with a friend in private and don't want to post a public message on the user's Facebook wall. You can access and view Facebook messages from the top navigation menu on any Facebook page.

Open your Web browser and log in to your Facebook account. This displays your Facebook homepage.

Find the "Messages" button icon in the top menu. It is near to the Facebook logo on the left. If you have messages waiting, a red icon displays the number of unread messages on the "Messages" button.

Click the "Messages" button. This displays a box showing recently received messages from friends as well as from Facebook groups and fan pages that you've previously joined.

Click the "See All Messages" link at the bottom of the box to open the "Messages" page. From here you can view all received Facebook messages.

Click the title of each message to view and read the contents.
