Facebook offers Android smartphone users the ability to interact with its website through applications, text messaging, email or a Web browser. Facebook for Android is an application offered for free through the Android Market that allows you to access and update your profile, news feed, groups, photos and chat with other friends that are online.The application is the primary method of accessing and controlling the majority of features Facebook offers through your Android smartphone.
Access the Android Market on your smartphone by selecting the Market icon located in the app drawer or on one of your home screens, if you previously created a shortcut. The Market icon resembles a shopping bag with the green Android logo on the side.
Press your smartphone's search button (typically designated by a magnifying glass) to bring up a search box at the top of the screen, allowing you to search applications in the Android Market. Enter "Facebook for Android" in the search box and press the magnifying glass next to it to begin your search.
Select "Facebook for Android" from the list of applications that appear. This will take you to the applications home page with information and user reviews.
Choose "Install" from the upper-right corner of the Facebook for Android page to begin installation of the app on your smartphone. Your smartphone's notification bar will display a check mark icon when the app is successfully installed on your phone.
