Whether you’re getting ready for a game of Go Fish or making up your own game with a set of flash cards, you can help to make it easier for your youngster. Now she can hold the cards in her little hands with a disc-shaped card holder that does the work for her. If your child doesn’t want the cards in her hands, but rather on display in front of her, make a free-standing card holder instead to demonstrate that you’re one crafty and recycling savvy mama.
Lay one of the CDs on your work surface. Spread a ring of glue around the inner hole of the CD.
Arrange the second CD on top. Measure down about 1/8-inch from the one edge of the underlying CD and place the second CD here. Offsetting the disc in this way will make it easier for your child to slip the playing cards in between the two layers.
Press down firmly and maintain pressure for approximately 10 seconds. The tight seal will help to keep your youngster’s playing cards firmly in place, rather than slipping around or falling out of the holder.
Plastic Lid Card Holder
Lay two plastic lids on your work surface from a yogurt or margarine tub or a similar container. Both lids must be the same size.
Place one lid on top of the other, back to back. Puncture a hole through the center of both lids with a sharp kitchen or utility knife.
Slide a brass brad fastener through the holes and open the fastener's ends to secure the two lids together.
Egg Carton Card Holder
Close an empty egg carton and turn it upside down.
Make a slit all the way across the bottom of one egg cup. Slide a card into the slit to make it stand up on its own.
Create slits in the remainder of the egg cups to create 12 card holders in the egg carton.
