In Google Gmail, you can delete all of your contacts with just a few clicks of your mouse. Gmail presents about 250 contacts on a page, and you can select and delete every contact on the page at once. After you delete your contacts, they are gone forever, so it's important that you export your contacts first, unless you have copies on another email service or your computer's email program. Deleting contacts does not affect the email in any of your folders or the status of your Gmail account.
Log in to your Gmail account. Click "Gmail" in the upper left corner of the page, directly beneath the Google logo. Select "Contacts' from the drop-down menu that opens. Your list of contacts appears in alphabetical order.
Click the empty "Check Box" located above the contact list to select all of the contacts. A check mark displays in the box as well as in the check boxes beside each name in the list.
Click the "More" button and select "Delete Contacts" from the drop-down menu. All of the contacts on the page are deleted. If you have less than 250 contacts, no more contacts remain in your Gmail account.
Repeat this process if additional contacts appear on the screen after deleting the first page. If you have several hundred contacts, you may have to delete a couple of pages of contacts before they are all deleted.
Tips & Warnings
Ensure that you have a backup copy of your contact list before deleting them. On the Gmail Contacts page, click the "More button" and then select "Export." You can save contacts in Google CSV, Outlook CSV or vCard format.
If you use Google+, deleting your Gmail contacts does not affect your Google+ circles. You can manage your Google+ circles from Google+.
