For those with an active Gmail inbox, emails can really start to pile up. As you receive sale notifications from your favorite store, newsletters from your favorite sites and junk mail from no one in particular, it can be very easy to lose important messages in the piles of junk. Gmail has a tab feature that can sort your emails for you in to logical tabs. Enable this feature to help keep your inbox in order.
Log in to your Google account and access your Gmail inbox.
Click the gear icon at the top-right corner of your inbox and click "Configure inbox."
Click the checkbox to select each tab you want to display. The Primary tab displays emails from actual people, the Social tab displays updates from social networks, the Promotions tab shows marketing emails like deals and offers, the Updates tab shows messages including bills and receipts and the Forums tab houses emails from online groups and mailing lists.
Click "Save" to finalize your changes and return to your inbox.
Log in to your Gmail inbox.
Click the "+" to the right of your inbox tabs.
