Tips to Export E-Mail Contacts

Most email clients maintain a contact list in which users store all important email contacts. If you want to switch to a different email program, you can export the contact list from your current email client and then import it into the new email application. Most clients export into a standard CSV format which is universally accepted and easily imported into other applications.

Gmail
Log in to your Gmail account by going to the Gmail homepage. Enter your username and password and press the "Sign In" button.

Press the "Contacts" link located on the left side of the screen.

Click on the "More Actions" drop down button to view the "More Actions" menu.

Select the "Export" option from within the "More Actions" menu.

Choose which contacts you wish to export. You can select only contacts in a particular contact group, or you can select to export all contacts.

Select your preferred export format. Choose Google CSV if you want to import into another Gmail account, choose Outlook CSV if you want to import into an Outlook or other email application and choose vCard format if you want to import into the Apple Address Book.

Press the "Export" button to export your contacts into the selected format.

Log in to your Hotmail account by visiting the Hotmail sign-in page. Input your username and password and click the "Sign In" button.

Click on the "Options" link located at the top-right hand side of the Hotmail screen to open the "Options" screen.

Press "Exporting Contacts" located within the "Customizing your Contacts" section of the "Options" page.

Enter the characters on the screen in order to verify your account.

Click the "Export" button to export the contact list into CSV format.

Yahoo! Mail
Log in to your Yahoo! account by visiting the Yahoo homepage and pressing the "Sign in" link. Enter your Yahoo! ID and password and press the "Sign in" button. Press the "Mail" icon on the left-side of the "My Yahoo!" screen.

Click on the "Contacts" link located on the left-hand menu on the "Yahoo! Mail" screen.

Press on the "Tools" drop-down button and select the "Export" option.

Press the "Export Now" button next to your desired export format. Options include Microsoft Outlook, Netscape Thunderbird, Yahoo CSV and Vcard.

Type the security characters into the text input box to verify your account and press the "Export Now" button to start the export process.
