How to Report Yahoo Scams

Every day, thousands--if not millions--of scam emails are sent and received around the world. These messages may be as simple as attempts to obtain email passwords or elaborate financial fraud attempts. Although it is impossible for large email providers such as Yahoo! to investigate online scam attempts, these messages may be marked as spam to ensure that they are not delivered to others' inboxes. Mark a scam message as spam to improve the spam detection ability of Yahoo! Mail and help prevent the scam from succeeding.

Make a note of the email box that the scam email was delivered to. If the message was delivered to your spam box, nothing more needs to be done. Yahoo! Mail correctly identified the message as spam and cannot investigate the matter further. If the message was delivered to your inbox, continue to the next step.

Click the "Inbox" link on the left side of the screen, or click the "Back to Messages" link above the open email message.

Place a check in the box next to the title of the scam message that you want to report as spam.

How to Report Yahoo Scams
Click the "Spam" button above the list of messages. The message is marked as spam and moved to your spam folder. The message is now more likely to be delivered to others' spam boxes if it is received by them.

Click the blue "Empty" link next to your spam folder to delete the scam message immediately. Alternatively, wait 30 days for the message to be deleted automatically.
