NFL Football Pool Work

Types Of Football Pools
Football is one of the most popular American spectator sports. Millions of people watch football, either in person or on TV, each week during the football season. Many fans add to the excitement of following their favorite teams by participating in football pools to win money and bragging rights among their friends. There are many types of football pools to participate in. Here are a few.
Fantasy Football: Each participant drafts a team of players. Each week a lineup of players is determined and you play against another team. Points are determined by offensive scoring, as well as defensive yards and points allowed.

Football Square Pool: A game is selected usually one involving the local home team. Each participant pays an entry fee and buys a square on a grid. Each square corresponds to a random number for each team. If the score reflects your number at the end of each quarter, half, and game you win. It's fun even if you know nothing about football.
Survivor Pool: Each week during the season you pick the winner of one game. If you win you keep advancing until you are eliminated. The last remaining survivors split the pot. Once you pick a team you can't pick it again. It's much less time consuming than a fantasy league.

Which Football Pool To Play
There are many types of football pools you can play. Each pool will have a slight variation of the rules but the general structure of the pool will be the same. Which pool you decide to play will depend on your interest in football and the time you wish to spend on participating in a football pool. If you are an avid football fan, with spare time to spend, you may want to join a fantasy football league with like minded friends. In fantasy football you will be spending a lot of time each week researching players to draft and trade for, as well as setting your lineup. Not to mention the time trash talking online with your friends which adds to the fun.
If you are a more casual fan, with not much time to spend on a football pool a survivor pool or football squares pool, this would be ideal for you. You can still participate and enjoy the fun of the pool without spending all your time on it.

Setting Up A Football Pool
Setting up and administering a football pool has never been easier with the availability of online tracking tools. Many are free or fairly inexpensive depending on the features you want. You no longer need to spend hours tracking the results and communicating with your league members. By having your league online everything is automatically done.
First you need to decide on the rules and payout of the pool. Decide on the entry fees, point system and the payout for the winners. Invite participants to go online to register. All you need to do is collect the entry fees.

Fantasy Football Week 10 Game

Patriots Bruins Red Sox Celtics Fantasy Football Fantasy Football Week 10 Waiver Wire: Best Pickups At Every Position by Nicholas Goss on Mon, Nov 9, 2015 at 8:17AM Week 9 of the NFL season doesn’t end until Monday night, but it’s already time for fantasy football owners to start looking at the best waiver wire adds entering Week 10. Whether you’re looking to add depth for a playoff run or stockpiling assets for next season, there’s something for you on the waiver wire this week. Here are some of the best players to target. Quarterback: Landry Jones, Pittsburgh Steelers Steelers starting quarterback Ben Roethisberger has suffered another injury, and it looks like Jones could the start in Week 10 against a Cleveland Browns defense that ranks 26th against the pass.
Jones actually played pretty well in relief of Roethlisberger on Sunday by leading the Steelers to victory over the Oakland Raiders with a late fourth-quarter comeback. He completed four of six pass attempts for 79 yards, including a 55-yard connection to No. 1 receiver Antonio Brown. Jones is nowhere near Roethlisberger’s level, but he’s not a bad bye week replacement option for Week 10, and he’ll benefit from having highly skilled playmakers around him. Other quarterbacks to add: Tyrod Taylor, Kirk Cousins Running Back: Brandon Bolden, New England Patriots Bolden could stand to gain a lot from Dion Lewis’ injury. Bolden replaced Lewis — who left Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins with a knee injury — and scored his first touchdown of the season. He had one carry for 12 yards and three receptions for 27 yards and a score.
Entering Sunday, Bolden hadn’t received a carry or made a catch since Week 2, but he should receive a larger role in the Patriots offense (the highest-scoring unit in the league) if Lewis is out long-term. Bolden is able to gain tough yards on the ground with his impressive strength, and he’s also a good check-down target for Brady, making him a smart add in PPR leagues. Other running backs to add: James Starks, Karlos Williams, Antonio Andrews, Taiwan Jones Wide Receiver: Dorial Green-Beckham, Tennessee Titans Fantasy owners have been waiting for a breakout performance from Green-Beckham, and it came Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. He caught five passes for 77 yards on 1o targets. All three were season highs. The rookie receiver is not an easy cover at 6-foot-5 and 237 pounds, so it would be wise for the Titans to target him more, specifically in the red zone. With a new head coach, that just might happen. Other receivers to add: Stevie Johnson, Kamar Aiken, Corey Brown, Brandon LaFell Tight End: Richard Rodgers, Green Bay Packers Rodgers received a season-high nine targets and tallied his first multi-touchdown game of the season in the Packers’ loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The second-year tight end had five catches for just 19 yards, but it’s encouraging to see him getting so many targets from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. With five or more targets in four of the last five games, Rodgers is worth an add in deep leagues as a bye week replacement or a fill-in for an injured tight end.

Missouri President Tim Wolfe Resigns, Football Team Strike

Patriots Bruins Red Sox Celtics College oFootball Missouri President Tim Wolfe Resigns Amid Protests, Football Team Strike by NESN Staff on Mon, Nov 9, 2015 at 12:03PM University of Missouri president Tim Wolfe resigned Monday as a result of continued public pressure for him to step down. Missouri students pressured Wolfe to step down after multiple incidents of racism on the campus. Students called for the resignation because they believed not enough was being done to address the situation. Wolfe insisted he wasn’t going to step down, but the final straw might have come from the Missouri football team. Members of the team pledged to go on strike until Wolfe stepped down or was removed. The decision also got the support of head coach Gary Pinkel.

The Tigers presumably can go back into full preparation mode as they’ve got a game against BYU on Saturday. Not playing in the game could have cost Missouri $1 million, as it reportedly would have to pay a buyout to BYU. Several members of the team responded to Monday’s news via Twitter.

Twins Submit $12.85M Bid, to Sign Byung-ho Park

The Minnesota Twins were a pleasant surprise in 2015 despite missing the playoffs. They’re now looking to take the next step and apparently aren’t messing around in their quest to do so. The Twins submitted the winning bid for Korean first baseman Byung-ho Park, the team announced Monday. Minnesota has 30 days to negotiate a contract with Park.

If the Twins can’t come to terms on a deal with Park in the next 30 days, Minnesota will be refunded its posting fee. Park would return to Korea’s Nexen Heroes for the 2016 season.

Park is considered one of the top hitters in the Korea Baseball Organization. The 29-year-old hit .343 with 53 home runs, 146 RBIs and a 1.150 OPS in 140 games last season. He hit .303 with 52 homers, 124 RBIs and a 1.119 OPS in 128 games in 2014. Those numbers are inflated by the KBO’s hitter-friendly environment, but there’s no denying Park has major power. And Jung Ho Kang’s successful jump from the KBO to the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball suggests it’s not unreasonable to expect solid production amid Park’s transition. The Twins currently have Joe Mauer at first base and Trevor Plouffe at third base. Plus, young slugger Miguel Sano is a third baseman by trade. So the decision to pursue Park is interesting, though it’s clear the Twins are trying to build on a 83-79 campaign that placed them second behind the eventual World Series champion Kansas City Royals in the American League Central.

David Moyes Fired Likely To Return To English Soccer

David Moyes won’t complete the rehabilitation of his reputation as a soccer manager in Spain. Real Sociedad fired Moyes on Monday amid an awful start to its 2015-16 La Liga (Spanish league) campaign. The Spanish club opted to change managers 364 days after hiring Moyes. “(We) have decided to terminate the contract of first team coach David Moyes, Real Sociedad said in a statement on its website, according to Sky Sports. “His assistant Billy McKinlay has also left the club. “(We) wish to thank both David and Billy for the…professionalism and dedication they have shown during the course of their duties with the first team. We wish them both the best for their professional and personal future.” Eusebio Sacristan is the leading candidate to replace Moyes at Real Sociedad, according to Sky Sports. Moyes led Real Sociedad out of the relegation zone to a 12th-place finish last season, his methods failed to have push the club forward this term. Real Sociedad currently sits 16th in the 20-team standings, having won just two of its first 11 games.

Patriots Stand Out In Passing Game

It’s time to take the New England Patriots’ pass defense seriously. The Patriots allowed just 213 yards through the air to the Washington Redskins in Sunday’s 27-10 win. They’re now allowing just 244.8 yards per game, a 62-percent completion percentage and 80.6 passer rating. Sunday’s success was more to do with coverage than pass rush. No. 1 cornerback Malcolm Butler and safety Patrick Chung were among the Patriots’ standout performers. Check out this week’s advanced passing stats: PASS COVERAGE Game stats: Logan Ryan: 5-9, 88 yards, INT, PBU Justin Coleman: 3-5, 29 yards, two PBUs Devin McCourty: 2-3, 21 yards Jerod Mayo: 1-1, 16 yards Malcolm Butler: 3-6, 15 yards, PBU Patrick Chung: 2-6, 14 yards, PBU Rob Ninkovich: 1-1, 6 yards Jordan Richards: 1-2, 3 yards, TD Jonathan Freeny: 0-1 Jon Bostic: 0-1 — Chung continues to impress in man coverage this season. He spent most of the game on tight end Jordan Reed. — Butler covered DeSean Jackson for most of the game, while Ryan defended Pierre Garcon and Coleman tracked Jamison Crowder. — Ryan gave up 34 yards on the final drive, when the Patriots loosened up their coverage. — Butler had one of his best games of the season in a tough matchup. — Coleman continues to impress. It’s very surprising he was cut by the Minnesota Vikings at the 75-man roster cut. Season stats: PASS RUSH Game stats: Rob Ninkovich: three QB hits, hurry Dominique Easley: QB hit, two hurries Chandler Jones: sack, QB hit Akiem Hicks: QB hit Jon Bostic: QB hit Malcom Brown: hurry Devin McCourty: hurry — The Patriots didn’t have their best game in pass rush, but they were missing Jabaal Sheard (ankle) and Jamie Collins (illness)

NFL's Best Offensive Line

Patriots’ ‘Offensive Line Has Been Phenomenal This Year’
FOXBORO, Mass. — Offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo has been an unsung hero for the 6-0 New England Patriots. It’s been a tumultuous season for the Patriots’ offensive line, which lost starting left tackle and captain Nate Solder for the season with a torn biceps after Week 5. Starting center Bryan Stork was placed on short-term injured reserve with head and neck injuries before the season, and guard Ryan Wendell spent most of the summer on the PUP list with a shoulder ailment and then missed games to begin the season because of an illness. New starting left tackle Marcus Cannon missed Sunday’s game with a toe injury, and left guard Shaq Mason was out with a knee injury, leaving the Patriots with just six offensive linemen against the Jets and unable to continue their ingenious rotation. Still, they’ve held up through it all and have allowed 16 sacks while Tom Brady is second among starting quarterbacks with 327 passing yards per game and first with 16 touchdowns and just one interception. “Our offensive line has been phenomenal this year,” Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Tuesday. “The challenge they’ve been up against, they’ve faced a lot of great defensive lines, a lot of different scheme challenges, they’ve had perimeter rushers, they’ve had interior rushers. We see a lot of games and twists. Everyone is obviously trying to get after the quarterback all of the time, but we’ve been faced with a lot of challenges. I think those guys have really stepped up to it. It’s a great group.” DeGuglielmo took over for long-time Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia last season and immediately helped lead the team to a Super Bowl victory. That was without captain Logan Mankins, who was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before Week 1 of the 2014 season.

Ryan Mallett After Texans With QB

Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien got his wish. The Texans released quarterback Ryan Mallett on Monday, according to the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain. The move comes after Mallett missed the team’s flight to Florida over the weekend and had to fly commercial to meet the Texans before their game against the Miami Dolphins. The Chronicle reported earlier Monday that O’Brien wanted to cut Mallett before Sunday’s game, but general manager Rick Smith overruled the coach’s decision.

Matt Beleskey For Bruins-Coyotes Football

Matt Beleskey is expected to make his return to the Boston Bruins lineup Tuesday night against the Arizona Coyotes after missing the previous two games with an upper body injury. B’s head coach Claude Julien told reporters after Tuesday’s morning skate that the veteran forward is good to go. He returned to practice Monday and took part in Tuesday’s skate. Beleskey has played the majority of his even-strength shifts alongside David Krejci and David Pastrnak on the second line. He has tallied two points (one goal, one assist) and four shots in five games.

Ravens, Colts in Football Gods In 2015 Season

Ravens, Colts Among Teams Feeling Wrath Of Football Gods In 2015 Seaso If you’re a football fan and a believer of karma, there’s a good chance you’ve looked at the NFL standings and nodded approvingly at some point this season. The season’s not yet halfway finished, but there’s been no shortage of baffling story lines in 2015 campaign. Some of those biggest plot twists have centered around teams that entered the 2015 season with sky-high expectations. In a few cases, teams have failed (in some cases failed miserably) to reach those expectations. Now, you could say it’s the product of shaky decision-making in the offseason paired with a lack of preparation and execution once the games began. But to be honest, that’s kind of boring. What if we’re dealing with higher powers? What if, bear with me here, some of the NFL’s biggest underachievers are actually feeling the wrath of the football gods? Let’s examine some cases a little closer. Indianapolis Colts — We all know the Colts’ story by now. They were good last year, but not great. They were destroyed by the Patriots at home in the regular season and then again in the AFC Championship Game at Foxboro. They then blew the whistle on the Patriots, tattling on them for supposedly using under-inflated footballs, launching a fiasco that conveniently overshadowed the fact Indy lost by 38 with a Super Bowl trip on the line. Now here we are entering Week 8, and the Colts — a trendy pick to reach the Super Bowl — are 3-4 with their only wins coming against AFC South teams. It feels like it’s just a matter of time before the head coach is fired, and the general manager — the chief whistle-blower in Deflategate — might not be long for his job and is reportedly beefing with the owner. Their horrific division is the only thing that could ensure they reach the playoffs. Dallas Cowboys — The Cowboys’ biggest transgression, of course, was signing Greg Hardy despite the fact he was being investigated by the NFL amid a domestic abuse case. He eventually was suspended 10 games — later reduced to four games — and it’s been all misery since for Dallas. The Cowboys have seen a ridiculous rash of injuries, most notably losing losing Dez Bryant and Tony Romo, and are sitting in the NFC East cellar. After winning their first two games of the season, they’ve lost four in a row, a losing streak that’s just so happened to coincide with the return of Hardy. Since he’s returned, he’s made news for acting like a jackass, first with off-color comments ahead of his return and this Sunday against the New York Giants when he looked ready to fight the entire Cowboys team. Don’t expect this to end any time soon; Jones wants to sign Hardy to a contract extension. Baltimore Ravens — The last we saw of the Ravens in the 2014-15 season involved head coach John Harbaugh complaining about the fact that the Patriots used an offensive line formation that was “clearly deception” in New England’s playoff win over Baltimore. Don’t think we forgot about Harbaugh’s preseason bully act, either. Go back even further, and there’s the Ray Rice thing. Flash forward to 2015, and things haven’t gone well for Baltimore. They lost Terrell Suggs to injury in Week 1, and it’s been all downhill since. Despite using vaguely familiar offensive line “deceptions,” the Ravens find themselves at 1-6 after seven weeks (, their most recent loss coming in part because of … you guessed it, an officiating gaffe. Their losses have been heart-breakers, by an average of just five points. Makes you wonder.

Brandon LaFell’s Drops For Patriots

Brandon LaFell gave his season debut an “F” on Sunday, but Tom Brady doesn’t sound ready to give the New England Patriots receiver a failing grade. The Patriots quarterback defended LaFell’s performance in their 30-23 Week 7 win over the New York Jets, in which the “X” receiver had five drops. “Everyone has confidence in him,” Brady said Monday on WEEI’s “Dennis & Callahan.” “It was his first game back, and those weren’t all easy catches. Some may have hit his hands, but they weren’t right in the sweet spot. I think for all of us, it’s getting back in football mode and dealing with the game speed and so forth. I have a lot of confidence in Jo and what he’s able to do. He’s been a great player for us since he got here. We’re going to keep finding ways to get him the football.
Brady is correct. LaFell’s first drop was on a low pass, his second was behind him, the third was low again, the fourth was behind him and the final one was tipped at the line of scrimmage and came in high. Brady specifically praised a catch LaFell made in the second quarter when he was hit immediately after hauling in a 19-yard pass. He was hit so hard on a 6-yard reception late in the third quarter that he did a flip through the air. “Phenomenal play — he got sandwiched there and held onto it,” Brady said. “He’s that physical presence that, honestly, that we don’t have a lot of other guys can provide. The way he’s played, the way he can take hits, give them out, run through the defense, break tackles, he’s a very unique player to our team.”

Dolphins’ Chris McCain Unveils Tom Brady Twitter Avatar

It’s a short week for the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins, but one Dolphin has hit the ground running with the “trash talk.” Trash talk might be a little strong, but Miami Dolphins linebacker Chris McCain is probably someone Patriots fans will be watching for Thursday night. That’s because McCain changed his Twitter avatar to a Photoshopped photo of him squeezing the head of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. In addition to the visual, McCain’s photo also includes the hashtag “#CrushBrady” to really drive home the point.

Now might be a good time to mention McCain’s appeared in just three games this season and has yet to record a sack or even a tackle. He was inactive Sunday in the Dolphins’ win over the Houston Texans. The second-year undrafted player has just one sack and 14 tackles in 13 career games. McCain and the Dolphins must be feeling pretty good about themselves right now. Miami’s won two straight since the Dolphins fired head coach Joe Philbin and replaced him with Dan Campbell. After allowing an average of 399.5 yards per game through the first four weeks of the season, the Miami defense has allowed just 310.5 yards per game since Campbell took over. Of course, those games came against Tennessee and Houston, two offenses that pale in comparison to what Brady and the Patriots bring to the table.

Matt Beleskey's Playing Status Uncertain

All Bruins players were present and accounted for as the team took the ice for practice Monday at TD Garden. The line combinations during the hour-long session remained largely unchanged from Saturday’s 5-3 win over the New York Islanders, with Ryan Spooner skating on the fourth line with Max Talbot, Joonas Kemppainen and Tyler Randell, and Zac Rinaldo donning a gray third-line sweater. Joining Rinaldo on the third unit were Chris Kelly, Jimmy Hayes and Matt Beleskey, the latter of whom has missed the last two games as he recovers from an upper body injury. “I felt pretty good,” Beleskey said after practice. “I felt the best I’ve felt yet, so that’s a good sign.” Head coach Claude Julien did not confirm, however, whether Beleskey would be active for Tuesday’s matchup with the Arizona Coyotes. “Right now he’s practicing,” Julien said. “So, any time a guy starts to practice, he does become a possibility. I haven’t talked to the trainers as far as (whether he’ll play). He was a possibility last game, too, and it didn’t happen. We’ll probably make that decision (Tuesday).” Julien’s in-game decision Saturday to bump Spooner to the fourth line paid off, as Spooner and Kemppainen each finished with a goal and an assist in Boston’s come-from-behind win in Brooklyn. One would assume he’d keep that new-look trio (Spooner, Kemppainen and Randell) intact, but the coach warned against reading too much into practice groupings. “The competition is always a good thing,” Julien said, “but what you see today might be different than what you see tomorrow. That’s all I can say about it. We’re just moving bodies around for no other reason than to make things work.” The Bruins have earned at least a point in each of their last four games. They’ll look to extend that streak when the Coyotes visit Causeway Street. Some additional notes from Monday’s session:
— Julien also offered an update on defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, who has yet to return to practice since undergoing back surgery during training camp. “Nothing more than what you’ve seen,” Julien said. “He’s skating right now, so he’s trending also in the right direction. (But) still not able to practice with us.”

Ex-Steeler Ike Taylor forPatriots’ Tom Brady

Ex-Steeler Ike Taylor: Patriots’ Tom Brady ‘So Good, It Makes Me Sick’  Ike Taylor has had a front-row seat for much of Tom Brady’s greatness, having played 12 seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers while the quarterback won four Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. And Taylor still is amazed by No. 12. Taylor, who announced his retirement in April, has been working with the NFL Network as an analyst since August. The former Steelers cornerback faced Brady and the Patriots many times during his career, so he certainly has an appreciation for the future Hall of Famer’s continued success at age 38. For proof, look no further than Taylor’s assessment of Brady following the Patriots’ 30-23 win over the New York Jets on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. Brady completed 34 of 54 passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns — he added a rushing TD, too — as the Pats overcame a 20-16 fourth-quarter deficit.
Brady has thrown for 2,054 yards and 16 touchdowns to one interception this season while guiding the Patriots to a 6-start. It’s almost incomprehensible.

Ben Roethlisberger At Patriots For ‘Unwritten Rule’

Be prepared for a new NFL rule next offseason, preventing full defensive line shifts. The New England Patriots drew the Pittsburgh Steelers offside early in the fourth quarter Thursday night when they shifted their entire defensive line in the middle of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s cadence. Roethlisberger was visibly upset after the flag was thrown and wanted the officials to penalize the Patriots on the play.

“I thought that there was a rule against that,” Roethlisberger said, via USA Today’s Tom Pelissero. “Maybe there’s not. Maybe it’s just an unwritten rule. ..  We saw it on film, that the Patriots do that. They shift and slide and do stuff on the goal line, knowing that it’s an itchy trigger finger-type down there.” The penalty pushed the Steelers back to the Patriots’ 6-yard line, and Pittsburgh was forced to kick a field goal after failing to get into the end zone. The Patriots beat the Steelers 28-21 in the NFL Kickoff game. The Patriots have found another loophole in the rulebook, according to the Steelers, that could be closed after the season, much like the ineligible formations New England used against the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin also insinuated after the game that the Patriots mess with opposing teams’ headsets, even though the NFL controls the communication systems. The Steelers heard the Patriots’ radio broadcast on their headsets. Bill Belichick said the Patriots also experienced problems with their communication system.

Colts Fans To Tom Brady

The blimp apparently will display the message, “#DeflateThisBrady,” a clear play on the Patriots’ Deflategate scandal. There’s even a video to accompany the sad excuse of a movement. So, let’s ignore that the Patriots have defeated the Colts in the teams’ last six head-to-head matchups. Let’s ignore that the Pats have hung at least 42 points on the Colts each of the last four times they’ve played, and that New England has outscored Indianapolis 189-73 in those games. And let’s also ignore that Brady’s four-game suspension related to Deflategate was vacated last month in federal court. Because if we ignore those things, it’ll at least make this attempt — to be fair, not all Colts fans are onboard with the idea — to taunt Brady and the Patriots seem far less stupid. OK, maybe it won’t.
